Hills Beach is off the beaten track.
You have to drive through the campus of the
University of New England to get to Hills Beach.
For those without GPS, the following directions
will bring you right to us at Hills Beach!
from the North -
Take exit 36 (formerly exit 5), "Saco" off the Maine Turnpike to get on to Route 1 South. Follow Route 1 South into Saco. Route 1 veers right in Saco at North Street. You want to continue straight which will put you on Main Street in Saco. Follow Main Street through town, over the railroad tracks and down the hill to go over the Saco River by the mills. Once over the river, take your second left which is Hill Street. At the top of the hill there is a traffic light and Majestic Florist will be on your left. This is the intersection with Route 9; take a left. Follow Route 9 (also known as Pool Street) to the University of New England. Now read the section below, "from UNE".
from the South -
Take exit 32 (formerly exit 4), "Biddeford" off the Maine Turnpike. Turn left onto Route 111. Travel past the hospital and the 5 Points Shopping Center. At the intersection with Route 1 turn left then at the next set of lights, turn right (which is still Route 111 - this will put Burger King and Rite Aid on your right). Now go to the next traffic light (there is a 7-11 on the corner) and take a right onto Route 9. Follow Route 9 to the University of New England. Follow directions “from UNE”
from UNE -
Take a left off Route 9 at the sign for the University of New England. You are now on Hills Beach Road. Follow Hills Beach Road through the campus. You'll pass Old Pool Road on the right as Hills Beach Road curves to the left. The restaurant is less than a mile from here on the right.
